Formation of a centralized catalogue (19K SKUs) for SAP MDM

CLIENT

International Metals & Mining Conglomerate with over 70 000 employees asked Synopps team to form a new centralized catalogue of IT Software being used in the organization.

ACTIONS TAKEN

1. A complete list of software, drivers, IT systems, and components for 70 business units has been collected (more than 120 000 SKUs)
2. A duplicates list was identified and validated with the client’s IT team (reduced from 120K to 19K SKUs)
3. Templates with specific attributes were developed
4. Catalogue data was decomposed and cleansed using automatic and manual methodologies
5. Missing data in SKU data sets were enriched to the catalogue, using automated tools
6. Each record was classified according to the purpose of use

RESULTS ACHIEVED

• Formed a new centralized catalogue of IT Software in SAP MDM.
• 19,000 SKUs were cleansed
• 87% of IT Software Catalogue SKUs were enriched with mandatory fields
• End-users started to understand the list of available IT Software
• The licenses renewal or software versions control process was facilitated
